Ghost of Tsushima is getting a free co-op multiplayer mode this year

By Darryn Bonthuys
August 18, 2020 - 5 years ago

Called Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, the free mode will allow two to four players to choose from one of four different character classes (Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, or Assassin) and tackle story missions together that increase in difficulty as you progress.

Ghost of Tsushima is finally adding readable text in its latest patch

By Darryn Bonthuys
August 6, 2020 - 5 years ago

Patch 1.06 will enhance the Traveler’s Attire, adding new visual and audio cues whenever a collectible is nearby. Previously, donning this outfit would result in your controller rumbling harder than the purple lightsaber your mom keeps in her cupboard. The other big change is a larger font for text, because any true fan of Japanese-influenced media knows that it’s subs before dubs bro.

Ghost of Tsushima created an authentic metal sound for its Mongolian villains

By Darryn Bonthuys
August 4, 2020 - 5 years ago

Ghost of Tsushima’s soundtrack isn’t just an amazingly moving collection of music, but it’s also one that is deeply rooted in the history of Tsushima and Japan. Moody and elegant, it’s also only one slice of culture that you’ll be exposed to in your journey across the vast island. With Mongolian invaders opposing you at every corner, it made sense to also highlight the culture of this warrior race from across the ocean, and composer Ilan Eshkeri wanted to keep that sound as authentic as possible.

Ghost of Tsushima is now the fastest-selling PS4 first-party original IP

By Darryn Bonthuys
July 24, 2020 - 5 years ago

There’s nothing I love more lately, than taking some scenic photography in Ghost of Tsushima. Pity about all the samurai stuff and those pesky bandits trying to murder me, it really harshes with my shutterbug mellow. Sony’s final big first-party game for the PlayStation 4 has been a breath of fresh air, a revelatory swansong that has had no shortage of fans. How many? Well in the words of the People’s Champion, millions…and millions of fans.

Here’s a look at Prophecy, the game Sucker Punch almost made instead of Ghost of Tsushima

By Darryn Bonthuys
July 22, 2020 - 5 years ago

A far cry (not that one) from the samurai sandbox epic that would eventually be released, Prophecy was more steampunk than a top hat decorated with cogs and goggles, was grim and and also served as a reminder that smoking could be hazardous to your health. It never saw the light of day…until now!

Five small touches that makes Ghost of Tsushima feel that little bit more special

By Darryn Bonthuys
July 21, 2020 - 5 years ago

Ghost of Tsushima is a game that tackles some big themes throughout its many hours, pointing players in a direction that allows them to revel in a massive world under siege, embark on lengthy campaigns and wage war against impossible odds. It’s all typical of the genre, but where the game truly finds its groove is in the beats between those humongous setpieces.

Ghost of Tsushima may be Sucker Punch's love letter to the samurai era, but the studio almost whipped up a Three Musketeers game back when they were deciding what to do after the success of InFAMOUS: Second Son.
