One of the biggest surprises of recent times was the announcement that BMW were resurrecting their fantastic The Hire series. The original series starred a then up-and-coming Clive Owen as the Driver, who was tasked with transporting various objects/people through a number of crazy situations while driving some of the German car manufacturer’s finest creations. The short films were not just star-studded with the likes of Don Cheadle, Madonna, Gary Oldman, etc, but were directed by a host of incredibly talented and award-winning filmmakers like Guy Ritchie, Joe Carnahan, Tony Scott, John Woo and many more.
And to bring back The Hire, BMW once again reached out to a talented filmmaker in the form of District 9‘s Neill Blomkamp, and had Owen team up with Jon Bernthal (Marvel’s Daredevil, The Walking Dead), Dakota Fanning (War of the Worlds, I Am Sam) and Vera Farmiga (The Departed, Up in the Air). The result was the incredibly cool new short film The Escape, and you can watch it in full below!
