Midweek Movie Mouth-Off: which movie should get an all-female reboot?

It looks like the “all-female reboot” is Hollywood’s next big thing. There’s the new Ghostbusters that’s well under way, and an Ocean’s Eleven remake being lead by Sandra Bullock, plus rumours of a female-centric Road House and 21 Jump Street spin-off.

Personally, I’m not too hot on the idea of taking old movies and remaking them with ladies. Yes, more representation of the female gender on film is always a good thing, but it implies that they can’t think of new, awesome, original characters for women. Instead of making new franchises, we just get re-treads, which kind of sucks. But, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say this is probably a trend that’s going to be around for a while. And while it’s happening, let’s capitalize on it.

So let’s brainstorm. How about a female-lead Saving Private Ryan-esque type war movie? Or another comedy/crime caper remake with The Italian Job? Which movie would you like to see an all-female remake of?

Just don’t let Paul Feig direct it. He’ll want Melissa McCarthy in it.
