The SABC wants people to pay a computer, tablet and smartphone TV license

By Darryn Bonthuys
May 10, 2017 - 9 years ago

It’s a feeling that a lot of people locally probably concur with, as the best entertainment around is found on YouTube, Twitch and several other streaming platforms. Even better, that content can easily be accessed from tablets, laptops and smartphones. Devices which the SABC think should be regulated further, in the form of an additional TV license.

JVC and Telefunken TV distributor claims that it’s impossible to see the difference between Full HD and HD Ready

By Darryn Bonthuys
April 20, 2017 - 9 years ago

While most TVs are sold as “Full-HD”, cheaper options were “HD-Ready”. The difference between the two? HD-Ready maxed out out at resolution of 1280 x 720p, which is high definition but not the highest definition around. Full-HD packs in the deficit with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 for a sharper result to the trained eye. According to TV distributor Nu-World Industries however, most people can’t see that difference.
