By Geoffrey Tim
July 26, 2018 - 8 years ago

ne of the most annoying things about Windows - and especially Windows 10 – is the way that it often forces updates. Mostly because it has the worst timing. Whenever you absolutely must get some work done, Windows will decide to update and use your precious, fleeting time to get itself up to spec.

By Geoffrey Tim
July 26, 2018 - 8 years ago

Denuvo is not an especially loved bit of software in the PC gaming community. It’s a bit of DRM that’s been used for a while - but has largely been cracked. One of its biggest crackers has now being met with litigation and arrest.

SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC review – Superior sound and comfort for enthusiasts

By Geoffrey Tim
July 23, 2018 - 8 years ago

Usually, if somebody asks me for a headset recommendation that’ll be used for both gaming and music, I’d point them in Sennheiser’s direction. The Arctis Pro changes that. If you’re looking for a headset that’s purely for gaming, then many of this headset’s best features will be completely lost on you. If you game, but also take your music listening seriously and don’t want a stack of headsets for specific purposes lying around, this is the one to get.

By Geoffrey Tim
July 20, 2018 - 8 years ago

Huawei is increasingly becoming a dominant player in the mobile phone space. Their goal is to become number one in the market, with just Apple and Samsung’s dominance standing in their way. Once a company that made cheap copycat phones, Hauwei is now one of the frontrunners when it comes to putting tech into phones – and being copied themselves.

By Geoffrey Tim
July 13, 2018 - 8 years ago

Because of all the extra money that Epic is swimming in, they’ve made the Unreal Engine Marketplace a heck of a lot more developer and creator friendly. They’ll mow be giving content creators – people who create art, sound, models and more for the engine – a much bigger slice of the pie.

Chrome now uses 10-13% more memory thanks to Spectre fixes

By Geoffrey Tim
July 13, 2018 - 8 years ago

Over the years, Chrome has become an incredibly hungry browser, eating up as much as RAM as it can. Once one of the leanest browsers, it’s become one that gobbles up everything it can. It’s a lot like me in that regard. Anyway, it’s now become worse.

WhatsApp now marks forwarded messages to help fight fake news

By Geoffrey Tim
July 11, 2018 - 8 years ago

If you use WhatsApp at all – whether in groups or for one-on-one conversation – you’ve probably been forwarded messages. More often than not, they’re harmless jokes and memes, but sometimes they’re deliberate misinformation, hoaxes and utter nonsense; a modern evolution of chain letters meant to spread fear, uncertainty and doubt.
