YouTube to reduce recommendations of harmful content, conspiracy videos

By Geoffrey Tim
January 28, 2019 - 7 years ago

I love YouTube! As a service, it’s a great platform to watch and upload video that’s around for perpetuity. There’s a big problem with YouTube though, in that you’re only ever about 4 clicks away from content that’ll rot your brain. You can be watching an insightful and education video on making the very best breakfast smoothing, and just a …

By Craig Risi
January 25, 2019 - 7 years ago

One of the big problems that we have in the digital age is fully understanding exactly who owns the intellectual property for what. While it’s easy to distinguish with tangible products where the first person to make something can generally have claim to it, things can become a little blurry in the software world, where developers are always interfacing with …

Amazon has developed a new vest to help ward off robot collisions

By Craig Risi
January 22, 2019 - 7 years ago

If you thought the objective of robots would be to take out the human race you would be wrong. They are first aiming to take away our jobs and then eliminate us in the process. I think. Their sentient A.I. is probably reading this as we speak and changing that strategy on the fly.  So, as humans we need to …

WhatsApp is limiting the number forwarded messages to stop the spread of “misinformation and rumors”

By Geoffrey Tim
January 22, 2019 - 7 years ago

I’ve recently been forced to block a family member on WhatsApp, because they keep sending me forward hoaxes, fearmongering nonsense and straight up fake news despite my protestations. Because people are averse to fact checking and happily spread misinformation like herpes, platforms like WhatsApp have become vectors for the propagation of bullshit.

By Geoffrey Tim
January 22, 2019 - 7 years ago

Spotify is going to keep my ears safe. The company is busy testing a new feature that’ll allow users to block or mute specific artists.
