LONG WEEKEND BAYBEH! Monday may be a day for us to reflect on our heritage, so I’m getting a headstart and honouring the memory of my family patriarch Gollum by eating raw fish heads and demanding that somebody return my precciousssss to us. Filthy Bagginsesessss always tealing family heirlooms and stuff. While I air my tiny loincloth out for Monday, here’s a look at the good, the bad and the completely random of the week so far.

Meade’s calculations say that the number 33 is to blame, as Planet X will arrive to squish us all into cosmic dust on September 23 according to doomsday prophet David Meade. Are we laughing at these claims? Yes, yes we are. Hell, we might even be chortling and guffawing at them. What if Meade is right though? What if tomorrow truly is the end of the world?

Representation is rad. The voices it gives to the voiceless, how it forces people to confront their biases and their own flaws, the inclusive environment it creates and so forth. Gaming has come a long way and whilst there is still a lot to do, stories like those of Boon Cotter are proof that the power of representation is being understood and the results are beautiful to see.

It’s the weeeeeeeeeekend! I could not be any more excited for the weekend. The sun is shining, it’s not too warm yet and I have very few social or work obligations this weekend which means it’s likely a weekend of me, in my underwear, eating ice-cream and repeatedly failing Destiny 2’s raid. This weekend, I’ll be giving my time over to Destiny 2. I liked, but didn’t quite love the first game. I’m enjoying the sequel significantly more. It feels like its telling a more flshed-out story, within a more cohesive world – even if the mechanics that tie it all together are pretty much exactly the same as the first game. Anyway, that’s my weekend sorted. What are you playing?

For a change, I was free to explore Gamescom and its many halls. On top of gaming, there's a Cosplay village, oddball sports, a console museum, panels, more esports than you can shake a stick at. Oh, and an entire hall filled with just about all the gaming and pop culture merchandise you could ever dream of
