Comic Con Cape Town may be the shake up that the Western Cape convention scene needs, but the announced dates for the 2020 event had fans shocked. With a 1-3 May date for Comic Con Cape Town, many fans saw this announcement as a case of organiser ReedPOP muscling in on FanCon’s territory in a bid to crush the local competition.

One show a year may not be enough for Comic Con organisers ReedPop, as the weekend saw them announce that Cape Town will get its own version of the expo come 2020 at a date that puts them in direct competition with beloved annual event FanCon.

The year may be two months over already, but the cosplay night is still young! This year has a had a few conventions already, but the road to San Diego Comic Con, LA Anime Expo and Dragon Con just doesn’t feel complete until KatsuCon kicks the year off properly.

The most wonderful thing about cosplay, is that anyone can do it and anyone can be anyone else. There’s a global community out there, made up of fans and people who have turned their passion into a career. Spotify is going to keep my ears safe. The company is busy testing a new feature that’ll allow users to block or mute specific artists. According to the Verge, the new feature will bock an artist entirely, so “that songs from the artist will never play from a library, playlist, chart list, or even radio stations on Spotify.”

For DC’s Shazam, which is basically what happens when somebody makes a Superman movie where the main character isn’t a sulking superhuman whose greatest strength is creeping people out with a CGI top lip, that wardrobe cost was pretty high. In fact, it cost the better part of $1 million to make each of the Shazam costumes. Each of them, as the flick wound up with ten super-suits for the film shoot.

Mastercard has made a nice consumer-centric move that should help put an end to some of the more predatory recurrent subscription services.
