PS5 redesign reportedly coming next year, but the console will still look the same

By Darryn Bonthuys

Scarlet Nexus goes full anime in its opening animation

By Darryn Bonthuys
May 7, 2021 - 4 years ago

Scarlet Nexus is now a mere month and some change away, and I'm already liking what I'm seeing: Action set in a world that looks very very anime in its construction. That idea has been magnified, compounded, and something else that does mathematical multiplication because Bandai Namco just released the opening animation for the game, which goes full Gundam.

Gearbox CEO says a Borderlands spin-off isn’t in development currently

By Darryn Bonthuys
May 7, 2021 - 4 years ago

Borderlands 3 launched in 2019, rolled out a quartet of DLC expansions after arrival, and is currently available as a director's cut featuring a whole bunch of extra content. It's also a hugely successful game for developer Gearbox, having earned it rave reviews alongside dumptrucks of money. So what's next for the franchise? Nothing at all.

Gamescom 2021 will once again be an all-digital show

By Darryn Bonthuys
May 6, 2021 - 4 years ago

Gamescom organizers originally intended to hold a hybrid event this year which would have featured both hands-on time with games in real life and streams, but that risky decision was fortunately reworked. "Even though the hybrid concept was very well received by partners, we had to recognize that GamesCom still comes too early for many companies in the industry due to the required planning reliability," Oliver Frese, COO of Koelnmasse, the German trade show organizer, said in a press release.

You might want to avoid Returnal’s latest patch until it stops corrupting save files

By Darryn Bonthuys
May 6, 2021 - 4 years ago

Returnal's a pretty solidly-designed game overall, with only the most minor of bugs occasionally cropping up and making a current run through its biomes that much more challenging. Biome, what a fun word to say. Like any game in the modern age, developer Housemarque had a patch locked and loaded to fix up any lingering issues, but the latest update may have had the unfortunate side-effect of uh…wiping save-games.

Resident Evil Village Review – Castle mania

By Brad Lang
May 5, 2021 - 4 years ago

Resident Evil: Village is equal parts terrifying and empowering. It’s haunting, tense, and filled with all kinds of gruesome action you’ll only ever see in a franchise that revels in its campy nature. Fans of the franchise will no doubt pick up on its familiar beats, but that’s for the best as it strikes a happy balance between fresh and familiar.

Google's vice president and head of product for Stadia, as well as the owner of an incredibly cool name that I wish I had, is no longer with the company.
