Ghost Recon: Breakpoint had everything going for it on launch day. It had the legacy of the massively successful Wildlands game to build on top of, the new map of Aurora looked stupidly massive and the core concept of a soldier stuck behind enemy lines while being hunted by rebels who could give him a run for his money made …

You know what, this isn’t a feature I’m going to enjoy writing. Honestly, it makes a little sad. The world is currently on fire and seemingly the only thing keeping humanity together is Animal Crossing: New Horizons according to Twitter and any part of the internet where the sun still shines. The journey to your own tropical island populated by …

Welcome to video game Valhalla! For anyone cooped up inside, now is the best time ever to tackle your backlog. Those games which have been gathering digital dust in your Steam library, Xbox Game Pass subscription or your PS Plus collection that you were totally going to play as soon as you’d mastered not dying in Dark Souls. Final Fantasy VII Remake isn’t the retelling of a cult classic that you’re expecting it to be. It’s a lengthy and deliberately slow-paced walk down the Midgar memory lane that leisurely basks within the warm glow of nostalgia, but at the same time it’s an exhilarating and cinematic explosion of action that not only celebrates the impact of the game which rewrote the rulebook for an entire industry in 1997, but also everything else that followed in its genre-defining wake.
