The ten most amazing Spider-Man costumes

By Darryn Bonthuys
July 27, 2017 - 8 years ago

Spider-Man has had dozens of costumes over the years. Sometimes wearing pristine white threads that signal his role as a teacher within the future foundation, other times dressed inside of an organic extra-terrestrial parasite that may him push to act on darker impulses. Peter Parker may find himself constantly going back to his classic look, but at least he isn’t afraid to experiment with new fashion styles. Here’s ten of his best costumes that he has slipped into.

The latest Hot Toys Batman figure is tactical to the max

By Darryn Bonthuys
July 25, 2017 - 8 years ago

For the last time, this isn't a beautifully detailed Owl-Man action figure. It's Batman dammit! Specifically the Batman sporting a more tatcical outfit from the upcoming Justice League movie.

SDCC 2017: Harley Quinn is hijacking Batman Day this year

By Darryn Bonthuys
July 24, 2017 - 8 years ago

For a crimefighter who happens to be on the wrong end of 70, Batman is looking pretty spry these days. Reinvented and reborn countless times, the dark knight even gets to unwind for one day every year: The titular Batman day. Not this year though, because the caped crusader is stepping aside to allow one of the more memorable characters of his rogues gallery to steal the spotlight: Harley Quinn.

SDCC 2017: DC Comics has a bold plan to save itself from a dying comic book industry

By Darryn Bonthuys
July 24, 2017 - 8 years ago

Last year’s Rebirth event was the first attempt for DC to get back to basics, reminding the world that heroes were now needed more than ever. This was a genuine attempt by DC to distance itself away from the grim-dark era of comic books, but the next step? What DC refers to as “evergreen” stories, graphic novels which are free of the continuity of their mainstream books.

SDCC 2017: Meet the “crazy evil Batmen” of Dark Nights: Metal

By Darryn Bonthuys
July 22, 2017 - 8 years ago

Something is coming to the DC Multiverse. A threat of titanic proportions, a danger which even the Justice League is unprepared for: Batman. Not their Batman mind you, but rather the Batmen of a dark multiverse that is hellbent on extinguishing the light of our universe.

SDCC 2017: Hot Toys reveals new Spidey,Thor and Justice League figures

By Darryn Bonthuys
July 21, 2017 - 8 years ago

One day, I’ll have a date (A REAL ONE DAMMIT) and I’ll be all like “Yeah I make six figures a year” and she’ll be so impressed until she realises that I mean action figures. No regrets. I am expecting a tinge of buyer’s remorse later in the year though, because Hot Toys is at the San Diego Comic Con and they’ve got plenty of prototypes on show again.

Green Lantern and Colonel Sanders are teaming up to save the universe

By Darryn Bonthuys
July 20, 2017 - 8 years ago

Easily the most bizarre team-up of them all however, has to be DC’s partnership with Kentucky Fried Chicken, a finger-lickin’ alliance that has seen Colonel Sanders join forces with the Justice League in the past to save the multiverse from extinction. By the breezy robes of Ganthet on Oa’s hottest day of the year, it was brilliant. The third time is the charm, as the Colonel will be lending eleven secret herbs and spices in the kickass department to Green Lantern in KFC #3 Across the Universe.

DC’s super-heroines are forming an anti-fascist biker gang in Gotham City Garage

By Darryn Bonthuys
July 18, 2017 - 8 years ago

DC is dipping back into its collectibles for another new series, this time based on the Gotham City Garage inaction figures. Here’s the lowdown on this crazy tale: Lex Luthor is in charge of Gotham City, thanks to a project that saw the City renamed to “The Garden”. Everything is hunky dory and keeping secrets is frowned upon…by an ever-present security team led by Batman. Someone should fight back against his regime. A job that the Gotham City Garage is ready to accept.

Martha-lover, would you look at this new Batman figure from Hot Toys? Just don't mention anyone whose name rhymes with Arthur around it.

Spider-Man is returning to the Daily Bugle in the Fall of Parker

By Darryn Bonthuys
July 17, 2017 - 8 years ago

Spider-Man has been sort of like Batman lately, but with fewer broken bones and more smiles under the mask. Peter Parker currently has it all thanks to recent events in his wibbly wobbly world that saw him inherit a massive company and become its public face. He’s also about to lose it all, as Spider-Man is going back to his roots at the Daily Bugle.

DC’s next Earth One graphic novel focuses on a more scientific Green Lantern

By Darryn Bonthuys
July 13, 2017 - 8 years ago

Up next in the Earth one universe? The original man without fear, Green Lantern. This time, the space-cop of Sector 2814 will star in a story with a twist: All of the Green Lanterns are dead by the hands of the Manhunters, and it’s up to Hal to fight back and reform the corps while balancing his life as an astronaut for Ferris Galactic.
